Update on water main break
The water main break has been repaired. We encourage residents to run the water for 15 minutes in their homes, and flush toilets repeatedly, to remove any murkiness in the water.
Until further notice, the Town is under a boil water advisory. All water intended for consumption MUST be brought to and held at a rolling boil for at least 1 minute. Water samples have been sent to the Alberta Provincial Laboratory to confirm safety and adequate chlorination. When water safety is confirmed, the boil water order will be lifted.
The crews are quitting for the evening and will be back first thing in the morning. Earlier today they reduced water pressure to the town, in hopes of being able to stem water flow to the break area. Pressure to the town is being increased to 30 – 35% for the night. This will mean most homes will experience reduced pressure, while some homes will have no water.
If you are in the area of the break (Grey St. & Dufferin St. from 2nd to 3rd Avenues), please keep in mind there is still water flowing in the street, which could become very icy as the temperature drops.
Crews are on site of water main break. Clearance has just come through from Alberta One Call and excavation is about to begin. Will update as information becomes available.
The Town is currently experiencing a water main break in the area of Grey Street & 2nd Avenue. Water may need to be shut off in the area. Please fill jugs, tubs, etc in the event repair is delayed for any reason. Updates will be made on the Town website, and Facebook pages, Granum & Area Buy & Sell and Granum & Area Discussion Good and Bad!
There will be NO garbage pickup in Granum today (Monday, December 30/19), due to crews working on the water main break.
