GRANUM WATER MAIN BREAK – UPDATE
As of this morning (Oct 18, 2019) the following information is available;
~An emergency call out was made to Alberta 1st Dig. They will be attending on a priority basis to map out gas lines, etc which is mandatory prior to any digging taking place.
~Rockyview Utility has been notified of the water main break, and will need to have a crew on site to conduct water testing, as per Alberta Health Standards, as the repair progresses.
~An excavation crew should be arriving on site shortly, and repair work will be able to commence.
We are experiencing a water main break on Minto Street. Effective immediately water will be shut off in the following areas.
~Railway to 3rd Avenue
~2nd Avenue at Minto south to the Bruce Williams residence
Updates will be posted as we receive more information. However, you can expect the water to be turned off until crews can assess and repair the break tomorrow. If you have any questions or require assistance, please call the Town Office at 403-687-3822 and leave a message. This line will be monitored and your call will be returned.
We are working diligently to have the repair completed as soon as possible. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
NOTICE TO RESIDENTS OF GRANUM Official Administrator Harold Johnsrude has advised that the Granum Council meeting for Tuesday October 8, 2019 has been CANCELLED due to weather conditions. A Special Meeting of Council was held at 10:00 am on October 8, 2016 and a draft copy of the minutes will be available at the Town office on October 9, 2019 along with his report and that of the Interim Chief Administrative Officer

Regarding the broken water main at Aberdeen and First Avenue, The town will be hiring a contractor to repair this leak in the near future. It may involve water shut off for a short period of time for some residents. Anyone who will be affected will receive prior notice.
