Residents have inquired at the Town office about the water quality within the Town of Granum.
Granum’s water is piped in from the Town of Claresholm on the regional line.  With the hot weather many residents have noticed that the water which comes from Pine Coulee smells and tastes different.  It is anticipated that with the cooler weather this will improve.
Both the Town’s of Claresholm and the Town of Granum are monitoring this situation and regular quality testing is being done.  The Town of Claresholm is vigilant in  their processes at their water treatment plant,  as is the Town of Granum.

A Bit of History

“The Leavings” was the cowboys’ label for the end of the trail where cattle were left for loading onto trains. Desiring a more poetic name pioneer residents reached into classical Latin (Granum for grain) for “Village of Granum”, two years before the community’s elevation to town status in 1910.

Granum is located on Highway 519 and Highway 2. It’s an easy commute to both Fort Macleod to the south and Claresholm to the north. Granum is ideally located a quick hours drive to both Calgary and Lethbridge giving proximity to two airports, shopping centres and large medical facilities.
